The Adoption Process at Animal Talk Rescue:

Animal Talk Rescue is a "no-kill" 501 (C)(3) rescue.

Most of our adoption ready cats can be found on PetFinder.com.  Most of our kittens are adopted before we have time to put them online, so please call to ask if there are any kittens available.

Adoption Center Hours & Location

Monday - Saturday:  11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 4:30 PM

The Animal Talk Rescue adoption center is located inside Animal Talk Pet Shop.  Weekends can be a very busy time, so please be patient with us if we're swamped when you get there.  Please be prepared to spend at least an hour finding and adopting your new kitty.

Meeting Adoptable Cats and Kittens

Adoption ready cats and kittens are available to meet at Animal Talk Rescue's adoption center.  When you arrive, an adoption center  volunteer will discuss with you what you are looking for in a cat or kitten and introduce you to cats or kittens that match.  View adoption ready kitties on PetFinder.com Please note that because kittens can get adopted quickly, they often do not make it onto PetFinder.com.  Please call the adoption center at (206) 526-1558 to check on availability of kittens.

New adoption ready adult cats are put up for adoption on Monday mornings. New adoption ready kittens are put up for adoption on Saturdays and Sundays.

About "Holds"

A "hold" is accepted when you are at least 99% sure that this is the kitten or cat that you want.  One "hold" at a time is allowed, unless you are looking for two.  Only adoption ready cats or kittens may be put on hold.  The maximum time period for a hold is 24 hours for a kitten, or 48 hours for an adult cat.  It is very important that they get picked up when ready, as there are other kittens or cats waiting for their space so that they can find homes.

Included with the Adoption

All kittens and cats are quarantined for at least seven days and screened for feline leukemia and other health problems.  During these seven days, they receive their first vaccines and de-worming, Frontline flea treatment, Avid microchip, spay/neuter surgery, and receive any other necessary medical treatment.

All kittens/cats go home with a free bag of Nutro Natural Choice kitten/cat food, a two week health guarantee, and a free vet exam through Dr. Obegi at All Pet Vet.  Our adoption fee is based on the cost of caring for one kitten/cat for one week (although most are here for much longer).

Thank you to Dr. Karen Obegi and Nutro pet food for their contributions.  All other care & medical costs are supported by your contributions, Animal Talk Rescue, and Animal Talk Pet Shop.

Animal Talk Rescue placed into loving homes approximately 1155 kittens and cats in the year 2007.  All adoption fees go directly to Animal Talk Rescue.
